Be the Citys Villain Bring a Friend, Not a Second Crater
Solo works. Duo sings if one villain farms and the other keeps the sky honest.
Be the Citys Villain is built for a single super who can also bring a friend. Online co-op is real; local-split-screen-only is not the model. Servers cap at 25 players, so a “duo” on a public instance is still sharing a skyline with weather in human form. This page is how two villains raise wanted together without stacking in the same mech pit.
If you have never finished a solo early run, do Getting Started first. Co-op multiplies habits. It does not replace Flight.
What co-op actually gives you
A second Heat Vision, a second Chest Blast, a second set of eyes on gunships, and a second idiot who can Ground Slam the tank you were hiding from. That last one is the failure mode.
Co-op does not (unless a live session clearly shows it):
- Share bounty automatically. Shop as if your panel is yours. See upgrade powers.
- Share codes. Each account redeems. How to Redeem is per login.
- Skip rival supers. 55 / 75 / 90 still happen. You just have a peel partner if you planned for one.
- Make scripts safer. Two injectors is two bans.
Voice chat or a party call is worth more than a matching cape. If you cannot talk, agree on a simple rule before join: left villain farms, right villain peels, or “never slam the same block.”
Medic game pass (optional). The live universe lists a Medic pass: spawn with bandages, heal teammates by standing close, and instantly revive teammates. It does not replace Flight or peel discipline, but it turns a downed farmer into a recoverable mistake instead of a full reset. Buy it only if you already duo often.
Role split that works
Farmer. Ground Slam snacks on quiet streets, Heat Vision on everything else, always a planned takeoff. This villain’s job is wanted ticks. They still buy Flight first — a dead farmer is a solo run with extra guilt. Upgrade priority stays in force.
Peel / air. Flight and Heat Vision maxed earlier, Chest Blast held for mechs and hunters. This villain’s job is to make the farmer’s crater unsurprising. They do not “help” by slamming the same hole.
You can swap roles between hunter windows. You should not both be farmers at 54.
Public randoms are not this. A stranger in the sky is extra physics. Be polite, do not grief, and do not expect peel. The video on this page is a random-duo sample of that chaos, not a ranked comp.
Movement contract
Pick a shared heading (north along the river, clockwise around downtown, whatever the map gives you) so you can find each other without stacking. Fly as a pair offset by a building — close enough to peel, far enough that one slam does not eat both hitboxes.
When a gunship shows, split vertically. One high, one mid, both irregular. Two villains at the same altitude are one lead shot with bonus damage.
When a tank owns a street, neither of you slams that street. Laser the facades from the next block. The survive the army rules do not relax because you have a witness.
Hunter windows as a pair (55 / 75 / 90)
Ten wanted ticks early, stop double-slamming. Peel confirms Chest Blast. Farmer moves to the edge of the district and lasers medium buildings only if the hunter is not on them.
During the fight, peel takes the super. Farmer does not “help” by joining the melee unless peel is actually down. After the fight, stagger the shop: one watches, one buys, then swap. Double-panel in an intersection is a comedy death.
If one of you dies, the survivor leaves the crater. Reviving the highlight is how the second body drops. Reset in a new district, rebuild hover, resume the wanted 99 route.
Shopping as a pair
Assume separate bounty. That means both of you still need Flight nodes. The farmer may add slam recovery; the peel may add blast cooldown. Do not have the farmer skip Flight “because you will cover them.” You will not cover a street-level slam against a tank you did not see.
If a code drops mid-session, land, redeem separately, do not both AFK in chat. Then spend on the same priority card you would solo — gifts do not rewrite the powers tier list.
25-player public noise
Extra villains will:
- Steal your block (free wanted for the server, annoying for you). Relocate.
- Pull a mech into your hover. Treat it as a random event, not a betrayal.
- Blast you by accident. Offset spacing.
If the instance is unreadable, party-up and hop. The win at 99 is per run, not per server loyalty. Official join links live on the links hub.
Etiquette (short)
Do not body-block a stranger’s takeoff. Do not follow a solo player all session if they are clearly not in your party. Do not advertise executors in chat. Do not demand someone spend bounty on your preferred slam meme.
Do call gunships. Do call hunter ticks. Do let the farmer farm. That is the whole social contract.
Practice plan for a new duo
- One quiet district, no heroics, both buy Flight.
- One tank street you both refuse to slam.
- A fake 55: at wanted 40, practice peel/farm without a hunter so the habit exists.
- Then go long toward 99.
Two villains who can leave the street are a problem for the city. Two villains in one crater are a problem for each other.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, wanted 99, bounty upgrades, and army fights.
Is Be the Citys Villain online co-op?
Yes. Play solo or bring a friend. Servers cap at 25 players. It is not split-screen-only.
Should both players max Ground Slam?
No. Split farmer and peel. Both still buy Flight. Slam-stacking pulls armor into one hole.
Do we share bounty and codes?
Assume no. Each account spends and redeems separately. See How to Redeem.
How do we handle rival supers together?
Peel takes the hunter with blast and altitude. Farmer stays at the edge. Do not both melee the super.
Can a public random be our third?
Treat strangers as weather unless you are actually in a party. Role split needs voice or a pre-agreed rule.
